Use the InStr() function to find the position of the "/". Then use Left(), Right(), and Mid() functions to parse. Example:

TestVar = "Parse this string by the / character"
SlashPos = InStr(TestVar, "/")
Response.Write("Slash Position: " & SlashPos)
%>
Or use the Split() function. Example:

TestVar = "Parse this string by the / character"
SplitArray = Split(TestVar, "/")
Response.Write(SplitArray(0) & "<br>")
