Flash Code Generator
Until I have time to make one I suggest using the one on the banmanpro support site as it is pretty nice.
This first one may be an obvious one, but is it only .asp files that I can protect as in no HTML files.
Can the program be set to protect my whole https directory contents (though the answer to the last question may have bearing here - there are html files as well as .asp in there) as in http://secure.mydomain.com
Thanks in advance,
I really look forward to installing V7...
I would like to test V7 by copying my existing V6 to a NEW directory,
including the database with new connection, and using this duplicate to
do an upgrade for TESTING PURPOSES ONLY before commiting to upgrading
the main system.
Should this cause any problem?
not really, aside from looking in paypal and manually adding each one for each user...
how many users are we talking about anyway ?,
and were any of the users new sign ups from scratch because if they were and that field didnt get populated that is weird?
ultimately aspprotect does not use that field. I was just storing it for the sake of storing it... so its not a big deal but I would still like to figure out what is going on
removing the expiration dates from paypal subscripbers will be enough to fix the issue your having about them getting the expiration notifications
in Control_pic.asp is there way to wrap the description field so that it doesn't go outside the table.
is that lindsey lohan and her fake boobs as ur avatar?
I am installing IIS and all of its glory on the other computer now... gotta love remote desktop (the pc is at work ),
This is what it says in that thread I pointed you to
This zip file contains 3 sets of alternate files depending on your situation. You simply replace your existing aspprotect v7.x files with these new ones.,
I really dont see what is confusing about it. I think I explained it all in detail in that thread.
I'm getting this error when I try to login:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'
Disallowed Parent Path
/gallery/users/login.asp, line 19
The Include file '..dataconn_inc.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory. , I have no idea to be honest, I just like the way it looks
Good deal on the remote install, just dont pull the old "hangman" move
shutdown the machine on yourself around 4AM. Otherwise you be getting
in the car and going for a drive LOL
If you see that when doing a view source then that code is not running.
I will need to go into your site and look as something is very wrong on a low level and I have no more ideas.
PM or email me the info and I will figure out what is going on.
I'll need ftp or frontpage access to the site.
I'll also need to know the urls for the asprotect system as well as the page you are trying to protect.
In addition to that I just noticed the </href> you have in there.. man that is some scary stuff you came up with.. that may appear to work and make a link but it is not correct. Each link will work but never truly be closed.
That is just not valid proper use of the anchor tag.
You make a link in html like so
<a href = "somepage.htm">somepage.htm</a>,
Then your surrounding each link with <span lang="en-us"> </span>
Not sure why ?
Humm, I dont see how moving to a new server could have anything to do with that.
What method of displaying the banners are you using. Perhaps try some of the other ones.
Those errors are all related to pages that have nothing to do with my ASP applications and code., ok,
When someone edits their personal information, such as address, is there any way to set it so that someone in the office can receive an e-mail noting the changes?
Thanks., Say, I just thought of one last thing.
Your not by any chance running something like norton antivirus with norton script blocker on that server are you ?
It can cause issues when ASP uses the filesystem object and cause never ending page hangs like you are having.
There are other apps as well that can cause it to hang.
And ASPProtect does use the filesystem object.,
Okay, I did that, now I get:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a004c'
Path not found
/aspprotect/password_admin/upload_post.asp, line 292 ,
A general question - Can you have multiple instance of the gallery on the same server? ,
Much thanks, the duplicate incl's I spaced on and should have caught. The hidden form variable was a key issue. Thanks for the syntax and the help. Now I get this page together. j As a note - I got faster results by dropping my timeout to 3 minutes temporarily while progging and cleared browser cache between tests. Thanks again.,
I am using cdont to send email. what do i have to do send email to other display my full name instead of email address. In other word I want to see first name last name in their email client instead of email address.
thanks for your help
Please Note : ASPProtect v7.x has a new feature called groups that is much more powerful than access levels. Access Levels were left in the product primarily for existing customers that upgrade to the new version so they do not need to make a lot of changes to their site if they were using Access Levels.
More On Access Levels
Again, Examples of managing Access Levels are provided in the "multiple_access_levels" folder included in the root of the Password System. Look at the source code of the ASP pages in that folder with a text editor to see the working code.
Access Levels and how they work can be re-coded to work in many different ways. However, you have to be a good ASP developer to make changes to it. Here is some information on how they work by default.
In the "check_user_inc.asp" that comes in the root of this system Access Levels work as follows.
Level 1 has Access to - Level 1
Level 2 has Access to - Level 1,2
Level 3 has Access to - Level 1,2,3
Level 4 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4
Level 5 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5
Level 6 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6
Level 7 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
Level 8 has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
ADMIN has Access to - Level 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,ADMIN
Here is some additional info..
If the access levels are too restrictive you can ignore them all together and create your own totally custom solutions.
Here is a quick rundown of some of the things you can do.
Ok... so if you want to be really specific about what each user can see and
can't .. here's an example of what you can do
Don't use the access levels before the include file..
Don't worry about what you set a user to in the admin area since the access levels won't be used.
Do something like this..
Every time a user logs in session variables are set that you can access at
any time.. thus allowing you to know who they are.
So you could do something like this...
<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" %>
If Session("USERNAME") = "bob1267" or Session("USERNAME") = "carl45" or Session("ADMIN") = "True" Then
Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "Yes"
Session("PASSWORDACCESS") = "No"
The following URL explains what Redirects are.
That would in effect create totally custom access levels.. but you would
have to do it manually for each user.
You can also do things like this after a person logs in
Show custom html to any specific user based on either their username or
access level ... like so
say there was a menu and a certain link should only show up to username
you could do something like this
<a href="main.asp">Home Page</a>
If Session("USERNAME") = "paully67" Then
<a href="paullys_page.asp">Pauls Stats Page</a>
<a href="links.asp">Links Page</a>
Or you can show custom HTML or links based on Access Levels or any other info.
You can do just about anything with if-then statements and
using the built in vbscript functions..
Hopefully this info will help to give you some ideas...
Bottom line is you have to do some work within your site to make the Access Level system really come alive.cwilliams38403.6781481481,
Yup, it probably means the virtual directory is not configured as an Application in IIS.cwilliams38455.9035300926,
You did put this in a plain folder in your web, correcct ?
Not a subweb
Regarding the application settings for the virtual directory.. if it is your server you set that stuff up in the IIS console.
If hosted somewhere it is there responsibility to have that set up correctly for you and you need to contact them and ask them what the deal is.
Chris, that fixed it. Found 2-references to guestbook2 in the file show_messages_inc.asp located in the \guestbook\ directory.
Suggestion for future release. Create an option to email the admin when a message is posted. If this code already exists please advise.
It's probably something I could do for you as a custom project if you are interesting in paying to have that work done, but it is probably not something that will be added to this version of aspbanner as it is in my opinion a feature more suited for a more expensive software package.
It is also difficult to get ASP code to do things on it's own. Scheduling something to run on the server or some other clever scenario is necessary and that usually means it would be unique to each persons setup.
1st off.. you appear to have some strange things going on with that domain. Looks like you have a frameset and are loading another domain in it which is always confuding especially if you are running the site off your home computer or something... I am not sure
If I go to
and click on the "familiy" category
then right click on a broken image.. look at properties
Your linking the image to your localhost
and that is wrong, just like I said above
Nobody running the site off any computer but your development machine is going to see those pictures because the url isnt valid for them
My guess is in the settings you have the "PictureURL" set to
when it should be
Good luck with this.. I am going to the bar.
If you need more help I probably will not be available until Monday.
If you are using ASPProtect Version 7 it is possible because version 7 supports html emailing. In any other version it would require some custom coding to add html email support. You would have to sort it out by experimenting and editing the emailing code. All the email methods have documentation on the web in some form or another showing how to send html emails.
sometimes depending on the email component being used and the email client reading the email a link in a text based email will get hyperlinked automatically. For example outlook usually will do that, but it doesn't always in other situations.
Lastly, we have special upgrade pricing should anyone want to upgrade to ASPProtect Version 7. It really has a ton of great features.
Thanks for a speedy reply. This is what I have used most recently...
ListingsConnectionString = "DSN=longreach;UID=lradmin;PWD=skipper;"
DatabaseType = "SQL"
but that throws an error of:
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
I have private messaged you my SQL server IP address. I am a fast learner with ASP (I think!) but some things really catch me out!,
All can say right now is take a break and get away from it for a bit. All your going to do is stress yourself out more if you keep working on it., Oh yes...I've changed the time a script is allowed to run before timing out from 90 seconds to 180 seconds on the aspprotect folder.,
There is probably a way to make it work but it may require days of fiddling around and reading articles and trying things and even then you may not get it working AND THEN ITS JUST A BAD IDEA ANYWAY. Like John says you are better off running it on a server that is not a domain controller.
I really do not know for sure, but I imagine there are customers using their windows hosting. Usually I do not know what hosting company a customer uses and I am usualy the only one that responds to forum questions.
Why not download the current Free lite version and try it out ?
I am confused.
Humm, how did ASPBanner 8 come with your purchase of ASPProtect ? That is not something I am aware of or something I do. Please provide more information on how you obtained ASPBanner 8. If I gave yu a copy for some reason please refresh my memory so I can go look up th emails about it. I need to know you have a valid license.
Now, as for the two not working together and the login screens messing with each other. I am even more confused. Tell me more as I just do not understand what you did ? ASPBanner has it's own user database and login system so there is no reason you should be mixing the two together as far as logins go. The two applications can certainly be in the same web together and not bother each other. ASPBanner can certainly serve banners to any pages you protect with ASPProtect or don't protect, but you certainly should not be protecting any ASPBanner code with ASPProtect code. ASPBanner already has code in it to do that. If that is the case don't do that. ASPProtect is not meant to protect code that already has a login system. That should just be obvious as far as I am concerned and hopefully you dintn't try to do that., The PayPal feature that is in ASPClassifieds has always been labeled as experimental and has never been supported as the documentation says. About a year ago I stopped even mentioning the feature on the product pages or in the live demo because I didn't like how it worked and I decided I would just market the application as a free based classifieds. Itís just not something I can support or talk about. To work really well it really needs to be coded to use PayPal IPN and a credit system. Where ads and various extra features cost so many credits and people have to buy credits before they can post any ads.
(you said you just put the directory in there but there must be more too this than that)
But again, tell me more. I can't really know everything ??
I just dont see how your ASPProtect pages could be effected by ASPBanner unless you really did something wacky like included the ASPBanner "check_user_inc.asp" instead of the one that comes with ASPProtect or overwrote it... etc ect
If in the same web aspprotect can be wherever and aspbanner needs to be in a folder called "aspbanner". There should be no conflicts under normal use and the two will essentially run seperate of one another.
Thatís about all I can tell you. It's just not something I support.,
Is it actually possible, with your product, to password-protect the folder that has the actual database without having to require customers browsing the listings to enter a password, or will password-protecting the database folder prevent customers from browsing the classifeds listings?, Not sure how to response.write the session variable,
Ok, if the link to the import/export screen does not show up its probably because you never put the import/export path in the admin settings?
go check that for me.
cause running that page without a path for the files could cause a timeout.. thats why the link doesn't show if the path is not entered (so people won't run it)
it looks sorta like this (there will be a field to fill in which wont show here)
|Settings below specify the physical directory path of the export directory. This is used by the system when using the import/export feature. The export directory needs modify permissions for the anonymous webserver account.|
the path must be valid for your file structure and it must have correct permissions (when creating files) , I am not sure. I can tell you that I run windows 2003 server and I have never had any issues setting permissions for ASP.NET files and folders. This very server is 2003 and the ASPProtect.NET demo runs on this server as well.
so if you are getting an error that is not the reason.. as far as windows is concerned // is the same as slash in that scenario?
what is your error? I need details. Like some code and an error at a line number ?
99% of the time it is permissions and sometimes it is related to the filesystem object being disabled on the server or script blocking software such as norton antivirus ,
I am also getting the "Unspecified Error" message. I just transferred my site to IIS 5.0 and I get that error now. However it does not happen everytime. I can click on a page and it opens fine and then I hit refresh in the browser and I get the "Unspecified Error" message. What could be causing this?
I encountered a problem that I haven't been able to solve.
I'm trying to get .pdf files to byte serve (page-by-page load in the browser)
but unable to do so. I've narrowed it down to stream download file where it
creates the header object. I haven't made any success with the changes I've
tried. Any help would be very nice.
