Our company has a big dilemma on how to manage the database for accounts that are expiring/expired.
We saw the function to email a batch of users who are expiring soon but this doesn't help us to complete the renewal process.
Once the email is sent, what happens afterwards? how can we setup the system so that we can renew their expiry dates or accounts without too much hassle?
The system currently doesn't have any renewal functions or to allow batch changes on multiple accounts at the same time so we have to manually edit one account at a time. This is extremely tedious if we have over 1000 accounts to manage (and we will).
If you have anything to suggest on all this I would appreciate it :)
Thanks alot, Actually quite well. I have this problem worked out and it
actually isn't to bad. But now I am getting some strange
error messages. I will start another post.
Bingo! that did it. Somehow the data must have gotten corrupted.
Hopefully that will do for me. Seems like everything is humming along and looks great!
It worked after bout 15 minutes. I receive a response of *3*
However, when I log in as a user who is only a mamber of group1 I still get a response of *3*,
I have set up a user to be redirected to a different page when logging in for the first time.
I assumed this function would count the number of times a user has logged in. When the login count was greater than 1, the user would be taken to the default.asp
This isn't happening. The user is always redirected. The user login count in the database is now 9.
What am I missing?
- I am using the original files that came with the software.
- The software ads items to the database flawlessly.
- ASPImage works great.
- When I try to remove an ad or an image it says it's been removed.
- The ad does not show up on the site anymore.
- BUT, when looking at the sql database the ad is still listed there.
Why is the software not deleting the columns from the database and the images from folder?
Note: My other tables for other projects, in the database, allow me to delete them. , 1st of all when I look at the site I see a lot of non US characters and I can see the regional settings of the site are foreign.
ASPClassifieds in only intended to run under US and Canadian regional settings as stated on the site.
Thus the BIG notice on the purchase page.
It won't run right like that for a lot of reasons and it is not supported like that as that notice says.
The categories showing 0 is just one of the problems you will have.
If I help you fix this it will just lead to 4 more issues right after.
If you would like support with the classifieds application you need to run it on a server with US or Canadian regional settings like the site says. ,
The reason is obvious, the file is called aspprotectlogin.aspx. It is self advertising for your product which is against the law for me to do on a government support website such as mine. Every other login system I have come across uses the login.aspx file. If I canít change it I will file with the credit card company and return your product. I do like your product and hope to stay one of your customers. I will let you know, thanks for your help., good news.. like I said it is probably becuase aol blocks emails sent from IP's with no MX record in the dns system ,
I think I've got it to work somewhat. I modified the 2checkout1 & 2 asp file to use and pass Product_id. It now identifies the product correctly. I'm good fo now. Thanks for the info though.
-Jason, nice. I love learning at least 1 thing every day,
ASPBanner.NET was discontinued about 14 months ago. It is no longer supported in any way because quite frankly the classic ASP version is faster, more stable, has more features, and is a lot easier to install and get running.,
If you PM me via the forum you are welcome to a copy of the current ASP Unlimited Version. It can serve banners to any type of page extension. All you have to do is ask for a copy.
Whether or not your existing ASPBanner.NET database is exactly the same structure I do not know, but I believe it is. You should compare the two if you plan to keep using the old database and make any neccessary changes so the old database has the exact same structure as the new version. If there are any differences they are very few.
I installed the ASPProtect.NET project no problem. I am using VS.NET 2003 on Windows XP SP2 (and fully patched). I am able to build the project successfully, however I cannot debug the project. I get an error "Unable to start debugging on the web server. The project is not configured to be debugged." The web app runs fine just browsing to it.
I know this is an isolated problem particular to this project. I have MANY other .NET projects that I can debug without any problems. I have tried going into IIS and turn on the debugging for server-side script debugging and making sure my IIS application setting were configured correctly.
Can anyone shed any light on this at all? Christopher, is there any reason I should not be able to debug this? (i.e. the aspprotectlicense.dll)
K, Just want to be able to log users in from the home page via a username and password box somewhere say on the left hand side with a login button. Like most sites have.... i cant seem to figure out how to do that with the software.
My other question is..Is there a way to incorporate this software into an event registry? What i mean is this:
Say a company is having a pool party, BBQ, and tennis lessons (just examples)
When a user registers with aspprotect i want him/her to have the option to register for one of the events. Also, I as the admin, would like to be able to view who and how many registered for each event... Here is what i am talking about (and it has a payment option to charge for an event which would be PERFECT if you could do) http://www.cescripts.com/demo/registration/view-events.php
Please let me know if there is a way to add this option or create...
At the bottom of my "users" list page, it asks the question "number of users displayed per page"? After hitting a larger number than the default of 1-25, it increases the number of users per page to that number. But as soon as I leave that page, it goes back to the default. Any thoughts?
That is how it is supposed to work. It is not supposed to remember that info after you leave. If you want it to always start at some default number simply copy the URL info after picking a number. You'll see the querystrings that tell the page what to do in the address field of your browser. Take that entire URL and edit the button in the admin area to link to that. The links for the buttons are in the "header_inc.asp" file and you should edit that file with a text editor.
That's the easy non technical way to set a default on the users page and that applies to anything including doing a sort or whatever.
you might change this
<a href="default.asp"><img src="../images/users.gif" border="0" alt="Users"></a>
to something like this
<a href="http://www.yoursite.com /aspprotect/password_admin/default.asp?SORTBY=Email+DESC& ;MyPageSize=500="><img src="../images/users.gif" border="0" alt="Users"></a>,
need more info..
are you using aspimage to resize images and make true thumbnails..
(because if you have it turned on and it isnt actually installed on the server you will get broken thumbnails.)
what kind of images are you using ? gif or jpegs
are you uploading images over existing images ?
really need to know exactly what to do to reproduce the situation from scratch and then I can give you a better answer ??
cwilliams38348.7894097222, Just checked XML Parsing with your file. Got a clean bill of health on that: It's working.
Got the right code for the location of the ipn.asp in my paypal1.asp, from http:// all the way to .asp.
I think since everything is set up properly from the looks of things,
I'll wait and see. If I get another one who flubs things, then I'll
start the testing of the account. But if it goes through just fine,
then maybe the Internet just hiccoughed on the first guy... thanks
I want to create a user for my manager. This user should be able to see
all statistics (Reports) and all (Banners). But, he should not be able
to edit anything.
How can I create the type of user described above?
, I need more details... telling me you cant get it to work doesn't give me much to go on ,
I would like to delete the SQL tables and set them up from scratch using enterprise manager and sql query manager and see what happens
If that is ok with you let me know.
Something is wrong like I said... almost seems like the database is caching old password info from the field.
Sure go ahead,
I need a point or a little insight please.
I need to get information from a credit card authorization called netbilling. I have been looking at your code for PayPal and 2 checkout. I have a feel for the code flow and the relationships of the "includes" .
I have been doing a lot of reading in my books and am seemingly twisted around the axel. I am not expert in ASP I am better in VB. I am not afraid to write code I am just a little nervous about messing up existing relationships.
My plan is simple: code a page to open the database and populate the database fields from netbilling and convert their field name to yours in the database.
I appreciate your time and insight. As in the past I need your help again.
Alternate Method to call banners from non ".asp" pages.
<iframe src ="http://localhost/aspbanner/aspbanner/aspbanner_inc.asp?Ban nerZone=4" width="468" height="60" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>
Be sure to delete the space in the BannerZone variable above. I am not sure why it is doing that in this post.
You can try calling the banners in an simple iframe like so.
Be sure however to edit the height and width values accordingly as that is very important.cwilliams38105.8437384259,
in both the admin and users area needs to be edited
You'll see something like this...
If Len(Image_Description) > 250 Then
just change 250 to something higher.. I wouldn't go much over 500 though as it may cause problems.. I am really not sure.. Changing it higher is done at your own risk.cwilliams38300.5727314815,
glad it is working now
sorry ya had trouble.cwilliams38418.6886342593,
When I attempt to upload, it appears that the image uploads. I get a "Original Image Size 0 X 0 pixels"
they don't appear in the web pages, any thoughts? I am using VBscript to upload, my host has safileup but I am unable to use it in this script, thanks for any help
here's the site link
Never mind, had the path to the image folder screwed up ,
import/export feature WARNING !!
I just want to warn everyone that the built in import/export feature can be a little dangerous.
The reason being is when you import users they get new "Users_ID"s in the database.
The "User_ID" field is an autonumber field and that is why and there is nothing you can do about it.
So, if you are using a user's current "User_ID" to keep track up something important NEVER export the users and re-import them. Because their "User_ID" will change and you will be in trouble.
The PayPal signup features of ASPProtect actually use the "User_ID" like this and that is the main reason this warning is here.
now, that being said
If you are importing new users into ASPProtect
simply exporting existing users to another system
then this is nothing to worry about.cwilliams38425.0597685185,
Basically, the moral of this story is dont think of the built in Import/Export feature as backup system because it is not. It is not a substistute for backing up your database.
It is a just a tool that can come in handy for various things.
I have just one quick question, I know this works with Paypal but does this work with Merchant Account?
How difficult it is to make it workable with Merchant account? I appreciate your answer.
I dont know about your error on line 6 when uploading..
as far as the manaully edited import file not working I would really need to see it. There has to be somethin wrong with it's format.
I really need more information and possibly acess to the system to do some troubleshooting...,
This is anot a feature anyone has ever had an issue like this with.
Thanks very much for the quick reply.
That sets my mind at ease
I was just worried if users would see warnings in their firewall software too.
I realize that the admin would have to have to go through some errors...
And since we are throwing things in here... Definately, if you have your own server you need a Hardware Firewall and a Managed one at that. The internet can be pretty dangerous for business if you don't.
Plus, I agree Black Ice although in it's heyday a few years ago was considered great. It is not suitable for todays standards alone even for the normal user (But, it is required by the company I work with for VPN. I think it's stupid too using old technology. I have 2 more firewalls setup besides that just so that I do have some security. And, that's just for my PC)...
all that docmunetation is online as well right here so you dont really need the chm file
the chm format is a windows format that can only be viewed on windows pcs. I do not know why you can not see it. I would do reseach on viewing CHM files on whatever operating system and version you are running because perhaps you are using a mac or linux operating system which can not natively view chm files ?,
as far as sql goes if you follow the instructions with give for setting up a new database you shouldnt have any issues and permissions should be already set. because we handle that in the sql script we give you.. "its a good thing to look at and it is pretty easy to understand what is going on""
however using another account could cause permissions issues.."yes, even sa" basically the username your using needs datareader and datawriter permissions to all tables used by the photo gallery system and you probably have to go specifically set them usin ght e security tab for your database in enterprise manager. This is more of SQL server 101 than anything to do with the Photo Gallery Code so I am not going to get into it too deeply, but that is definetly the issue. Permissions...cwilliams38303.6065740741,
No can do. In both cases there is an icon that says "Not uploaded". I click in it and nothing happens. There is no link to upload. Am I missing something?
By the way, I appreciate and am impressed with your rapid response. Thanks.
ASPProtect Version 7
Expiry Notices go out to members who have recently renewed by subscription.
When an existing member from ASPProtect Version 6, with an expiry date, renews with SUBSCRIPTION in v7, the previous expiry date remains unchanged.
We assume the expiry date remains blank with NEW Subscriptions and that Paypal takes care of notifications.
But our notifications to the "about to expire" dating from v6 catches the "Renewed by subscrtiption" as well, as the date has nor been changed or removed, and this REALLY confuses our members.
Can this be resolved?,
Is there a way I can include the username and password in the URL of a protected page to gain access to a that page without going through the log-in page?
I'm not quite sure what the syntax would be in the URL.
Warren, did you read what this thread says about that session variable for groups not be created by default
you have to add code so it sgets created before you can check it... this thread talks about that, Is there somthing I need to change in the settings to get the hit count to update?,
Making progress. I have made the appropriate settings and now I have the option to upload. When I upload, I get the following message:
"Your upload did not succeed, most likely because your browser does not support Upload via this mechanism.
Your browser must support a standard called RFC 1867. Please check with your browser vendor for support of this standard"
I am using IE6 XP SP2. I also am using DUNDAS UPLOAD, ASPIMAGE.
I think I set permissions correctly bot not positive. I have given all auth to everyone for the database etc., check the connection string in the dataconn_inc.asp file. If using MSAccess it will show the location. If using SQL Server it will show the SQL Server details in which case there is no physical database file.,
I have just purchased ASP v7 and loaded. Followed instructions. Obtained codes not prob. Get to single field login screen, enter password and following page appears:
Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /temp/aspprotect/password_admin/get_me_in.asp.
Added folder aspprotect under (temp web) folder - temp, but also tried under root folder of web site.
Still no luck.
Apache/1.3.27 Server at www.didac.co.uk Port 80, MSACCESS or SQL server ?,
